While I agree with the sentiments expressed, sometimes it is prudent to do what we'd rather not do. It is also often prudent to adapt to your environment before trying to change it in order to up your odds of surviving to change it.
My hope for the best but be prepared for the worst mindset was instilled in a different time and place. I understand that, but in the worst case scenarios, no one is coming to save you.
