The challenge is that what Amber is railing on is the human condition. There will always be humans who are willing to take advantage of others. We can go into a long discussion on why, but that's reality and I don't see it changing regardless of how much "work" anyone does. I believe its starts with parents and what parents are teaching …

What Amber needs to realize is that the only way she can "protect" herself is by not expecting the world to change. Acknowledge the reality of the human condition. Boys are going to be boys. Start with that assumption and act accordingly to guarantee your safety.
I had that discussion with my youngest daughter. She was very good looking. She used her looks. She never paid for drinks at a bar in college. She got the "boys" to buy her the drinks. I warned her that at some point she may eventually find a guy that might want more than just buying her a drink. She had the advantage that she had other guys with her that would have gotten on any other guy. I taught both of my daughters that boys will be boys. They are both strong woman. Neither support much of the #metoo movement. Especially what happened to Al Franken.
I agree with the ideals of the left. Men should rise above the "boys will be boys". I'm pragmatic enough to know that those ideals are not what a woman should assume in public. I agree with the ideals of eliminating systematic racism or homophobia. I'm pragmatic enough to not live ever assuming those ideals are the default. They never will be. A better strategy is to assume they are not and prepare yourself accordingly. Saying that all men are the problem is not helping yourself.
