Even though I couldn’t stomach voting for him personally, I think you articulate the point clearly why many men did. Especially white men. And your logic rings true to my experience. I live in California and am friends with a diverse group of people. I have stood up for them over the years against racism, misogyny, etc. but what I’ve noticed over the last 5+ years is just casual racism / sexism against white men, even among friends. It’s nothing for this group to throw around “white man” as a pejorative, or cast blanket aspersions against white men as oppressors, ignorant, etc., even while when I’m sitting in the room with them. That’s how comfortable people are with doing this. And while I know they aren’t talking about me, I still feel taken aback because if someone were saying the same thing about Asians, Latinos, and Black folks in front of me, I wouldn’t stand for it.

And I don’t want to be overly sensitive. I get over it fast. But I know if it’s bothering me, it’s certainly having a major effect on other white men.

This feels like you're letting yourself be an emotional punching bag for other people.
