Medium is the worst. I got it again ... same "Roger (he/him)" only this time my offense was nothing worse than advising a father to not be too hasty with the hormones and surgery for his newly-announced "trans" son, since it's a lot more likely that he's gay, not "trans."

I always got Roger too. I thought you said you'd got kicked off? I wonder if there's someone above Roger you can complain to about him? Say something like, "What's his hostility to children's health? Roger is too extreme." There may not be a way to go over their heads but a little Googling might find something.
Only takes a few seconds to create a new email address.
This last time though I didn't say a thing about the "trans" crap being fake or anything, just to not be too hasty in affirming his son's likely haste to destroy his health. Pointing out that "trans" is commonly a temporary adaptation toward recognizing oneself a gay.
There is no point appealing this stuff. There are no contact emails on Medium and they never answer responses to a banning email. I tried anyway and pointed out that they are expelling good writers to appease some of the nastiest people on the Internet.
I think they just triage all the reports and he/him gets all the "transphobia" reports since he's so passionate about making medium a "safe space" (spits) for the "trans" radicals.
I hope this whole thing gets some serious backlash soon.
I already have a free account I created while on Medium for a separate work-related thing. It's under an anonymous name as I didn't want to be identified for professional reasons (it was pro-cannabis content; today I'd have no compunction about using my real name). I supposed I could use it to read some extra stories a month but I never bother. There's no point in starting up a new account there; writing there in the first place was to get my brand going and then they destroyed that work. And I can't write about the things I want to because Roger loses his/him's mind every time I write common sense.
It's hard to know what's really going on with Medium since they're a private company and we can't see their financials, but a Verge article about it a few years ago indicated that Ev Williams was supposedly funding it himself out of his billions since no one would give him funding. They screw the writers they have by cutting back on monthly payouts and raise the bar higher. They kick off others because they simply won't behave, and I'm like seriously, WTF??? How is banning paying members a good business practice when you can't raise funding?
I wonder if Ev even knows what's going on there. I don't know what his politics are but does he know they're banning paying members? It's hard to believe a rich guy would choose a social justice moral imperative over making a LOT more money by not paying for operations himself.
I'm hoping for another backlash against social media. Facebook is facing criticism again after turning over private messages between a mother and daughter planning an abortion in a no-no state, and the Twitter hashtag #TwitterHatesWomen keeps trending periodically with a lot more JKR support. I'm of half a mind re Elon Musk: He might make it safer for free speech but it might mean the Return of Trump (who will probably find a way to tweet from his jail cell).
I'm frankly half-expecting to get banned from Twitter. I haven't gotten any warnings yet and I'm careful not to 'misgender' specific people, but I've been arguing in favour of women being women and transwomen will never be the same, so it's probably just a matter of time. Twitter isn't much useful anymore as a place to promote my work since I can't get the damn Twitter cards to post properly, so if they ban me I'll just create an anonymous account so I can check the daily news and explore alternatives to content promotion that doesn't involve social media. Maybe I'll pioneer something new for all those who are too commonsensical for the social media platform Boards :)
I've been back on Medium less than 24 hours and I already got the red banner. But no "Roger (he/him)" email. No notification of being banned. So maybe it actually is "under review."
But I didn't say a word about "trans" anything. I responded to a few software articles, and yes in a few cases I wonder'd aloud why they would post such trash. So did a lot of other people.
Medium was once a great place to write and for a while I was making a cool thousand a month. But in addition to the transn's the overall quality has fallen to the floor. "How I got offers from (list of corporations); why I quit my 400K job, and the endless streams of what makes a great/lousy programmer.
If it says 'under review' at the top every time you log in, you may well be in the process of being banned. I just logged into my old account and I have a message saying not that it's under review, but that it's under investigation or was found in violation of Medium rules.
I myself quickly grew tired of the "How I earned $1.5B on Medium in my first hour when an article I wrote went galactically viral" crap.
Every time I've gotten banned it's had something to do with "trans" and the email was always in my inbox at the same time as the banner. *shrug* not that it matters, they ignore all appeals.
Thanks for the vocal.media link, they have one contest I may take a stab at.
But, yeah, so many things going bad at the same time on Medium. Not only publishing but promoting articles of awesome inferiority. The nearly inescapable "trans" crowd. The profligate no-warning banning. The new restrictions on the partner program. It's like they're trying to destroy it.
Ugh, it's getting a lot worse. One wonders whether this might signal the beginning of the end. It's unfortunate, because it used to be a great platform for writing, getting started, learning, etc. Vocal.media isn't even close to that and doesn't have the domain ranking. But, I've published several articles critical of the trans movement and they've published all of them. Sometimes they reject them for approval and I have to rewrite or change a few things which is annoying, but overall a helluva lot less than the way Medium handles it. Only two I didn't rewrite because I didn't have time, I wanted to get the content out there, and I said the hell with it and published it on my blog & Substack (which is where my articles go after Vocal anyway). Hopefully Vocal won't go crazy-far-left the way Medium was, and it was already famous as a hotbed of far-leftiness and man-hatred from 'feminists', although I never got shit from anyone on the Medium staff for my feminism-critical articles, only angry misandrists.

Feel free to call this sour grapes.
