One of the most annoying things about membership of a minority group is that other members of that minority are seen as “representatives.”
Will Smith slaps Chris Rock, and we find ourselves having conversations about “black anger.” When two minor celebrities have a non-traditional heterosexual relationship, there’s a whole rigamarole about what a “queer’ family looks like.
The smaller the minority, the more acute the problem. So when, oh, I don’t know, a trans comedian exposes “her” penis on live television (the NSFW part is here you animals), people notice.
Today’s conversation features a brief chat between Robert and Buffy about that noticing.

That this #stunningandbrave act might somehow lead to “a more grown-up debate about trans acceptance.” That the only reason people might be offended by an unscheduled penis on live television was transphobia.
Buffy saw a different possibility.
Buffy:
It was a tawdry, camp performance better suited to a time before trans people were respected anywhere. But I guess if it titilates the masses we can pretend it's prelude to a more "grown-up" discussion about rights and dignity.
