One theme that I’ve touched on over and over again in my writing is that it’s easy to see bigotry when it affects you and easy to ignore it when it doesn't.
Dilbert creator Scott Adams lived through the tail end of racial segregation, the beating of Rodney King and the murder of James Byrd Jr., and the shootings in Charleston and Buffalo. All without a peep.
But after reading a single poll claiming that 26% of black people (and 7% of white people), took issue with the slogan, It’s OK To Be White, he concluded that white people need to “get the f**k away” from black people.
In my article, Is It OK To Be Racist?, I wrote about Adams’ anti-black racism. But I also wrote about notable examples of anti-white racism.
Yvette found one easier to excuse than the other.
Yvette:
Are you kidding!?!? I feel like you're missing the very OBVIOUS reason black ppl have every right to feel Ill will towards White Ppl smh. No one is going around systemically oppressing whites or actually treating them as less than. And the few that have the power to do so are in extremely limited areas if any.
Maybe if we ever actually make it to true equality and the country is ran by a proportionate amount of ppl of other ethnicities without the whites crying a river and doing everything they possibly can to stop it your argument would make sense. Also thanks for giving all the racist white ppl another black person to point at and say "look this one agrees with me!"
